Projects

Objective
The SRS project covers the research and development of an advanced waterproofing system for roofs with thermal reflectance capacity.
The product resulting from this project will respond to the problems of cracking and reduced durability of water-based polymeric liquid membranes to perform technically equivalent or superior results to the solvent-based ones existing on the market today.
To ensure the success of the project, a multidisciplinary consortium with complementary skills was defined with two business entities - Saint-Gobain Portugal, S.A. (Promoter-leader) and Têxteis Penedo, S.A. and 3 ENESII entities - ITECONS, CITEVE and CENTI - that, based on their areas of expertise, guarantee the necessary competences in the various development areas of the project and respond to the proposed challenge.

Activities and expected results
The SRS project is organised in 6 activities to create an advanced thermal reflective waterproofing system composed of a water-based polymer membrane reinforced with a smart textile substrate with moisture sensing and active heating.

The main components of this project are:

A1. Technical Management and Coordination of the project
A2. Studies, Technical Specifications and Technical Oversight
A3. R&D of the advanced impermeability system
A4. Construction of prototypes
A5. Tests and validation
A6. Publication and use of the results
